Mirage of Fate. The premise of this, was to make a story that follows traditional RPG plots as closely as possible, while simultaneously breaking almost all conventions. This isn’t supposed to be a comedic parody work, so don’t expect much lampshading and stuff like that. It is definitely going to be in a fantasy setting though.

Well, I already have my pitch to myself, so I’ll just use that in place of a summary proper (no names are concrete yet though):

The plot goes like this: there’s a certain town in a certain country. That town is special because it has been somewhat separated from the rest of the country, though no one really knows it, and for those who do notice it, it’s more of a tradition or something to view the people of that town as different. The reason behind this is that the country has a legend that among the people from that town, there will come someone who will come forth when the world is in peril and right all wrongs. The sad thing is, because the people who observed the divination of that legend (it’s more of a prophecy) were politicians or something, they feared that the people of that town would use that information as a way to gain absurd social standing and bully other towns/control the country. To counteract this, they placed restrictions on the town, which prevented them from learning anything about it, and gave them minimum contact with the outside world. However, as divinations in fantasy settings go, it does come true. With the political situation as it is though, the hero has quite an uphill battle to fulfill his prophecy, if he can at all.
